Stock market today: Sensex plunges 800 points from intraday high. Is bull run over?

Stock market today: After rising for six straight sessions, the Indian stock market witnessed sharp selling pressure at an intraday high on Tuesday. Today, the BSE Sensex opened upside at 78,296 and touched an intraday high of 78,741 within a few minutes of opening the bell. After the gap-up opening, Sensex today turned green in YTD by quoting above 78,139, the closing price of the 30-stock index on 31 December 2024. The Nifty 50 index also had a gap-up opening at 23,751. The 50-stock index touched an intraday high of 23,869. However, the frontline indices failed to sustain at the higher levels and soon came under selling pressure. After the sharp selling trigger, the BSE Sensex touched an intraday low of 77,912, while the Nifty 50 index hit an intraday low of 23,627.
