Meet Ravi Ahuja, the incoming President and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment

Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra will step down from his role at the beginning of next year. He will be succeeded by Ravi Ahuja, the current President and chief operating officer of the company.

Ahuja, also the Chairman of Global Television Studios, will assume charge as the company’s President and CEO from January 2, 2025, read a statement. The 53-year-old will report to Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman and CEO of Sony Group Corporation as well as Sony Group Corporation President, COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki.

Meanwhile, Vinciquerra will continue to be in an advisory role for the company as the non-executive Chairman until the end of December 2025.

Who is Ravi Ahuja?

At present, Ahuja serves as the Chairman of Global Television Studios as well as President and Chief Operating Officer of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

He leads the production businesses for the company, including the US and international productions, and its India operations among others. Along with Vinciquerra, Ahuja was tasked with managing the day-to-day operations.

Ahuja joined Sony Pictures Entertainment in March 2021. He used to oversee Sony Pictures Television’s production businesses as well as the studio’s India business as the Chairman of Global Television Studios.

Since becoming a part of the company, he has led several mergers and acquisitions for it. This includes the acquisitions of non-fiction entertainment company Industrial Media, the UK’s production company Bad Wolf and VFX company Pixomondo, among others.

Before this, Ahuja served as the President of Business Operations and CFO of Walt Disney Television. During his time, he played a pivotal role in the merging of Disney/ABC Television and Fox Networks after Disney acquired Fox in early 2019.

He worked as the CFO of Fox Networks Group, overseeing finance, strategy and business development across all of its business units including Twentieth Century Fox Television, Fox Cable Networks, Fox Sports, Fox Broadcasting, National Geographic and others.

While being a part of the company for around 12 years, Ahuja executed its growth initiatives, including in streaming and new technology. He even helped in the Hulu joint venture for more than a decade, besides spearheading investments in Roku, DraftKings and others. He became a part of Fox in 2007.

He has also served as CFO for Virgin Entertainment Group and has worked in McKinsey & Company as well as investment banking. Ahuja holds undergraduate and MBA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
